The Academy Theater
Built in 1886, the Academy has a full season of live shows, musicals, comedy, and family friendly events each year. Look for their foreign film festival every spring, a joint venture between the theater and Allegheny College (free to students). Recent highlights include a comedy show written by Steve Martin and a production of Cabaret. Tours are available! |
Allegheny Theater DepartmentAllegheny College, Arter Hall The Playshop Theater and Student Experimental Theaters (S.E.T.) of Allegheny College offer a comprehensive season annually. S.E.T features student directed performances, and Playshop offers the department sponsored plays. Look for performances throughout the school year only. The 2006 features include a collaboration between the Theater and Music Departments and the first musical production in several years! Shows are often free, otherwise under 5 dollars. |
The Meadville Community PlayersAllegheny College, Oddfellows Hall A group of students, community members, children and adults committed to bringing theatrical treats to Meadville! Check out the Community Players for some of the funniest, most family friendly fare our town can offer year round. Whether you are looking for laughs, a musical, or a kid’s show, you’ll find it at the Community Players Theater on Allegheny’s campus. |
The Movies at Meadville
A brand new 10 screen movie complex that is the largest in Crawford County. The Movies offers first run Hollywood blockbusters, as well as art house and independent films twice a week. Special events have included showing sports events and concerts (for example the Super Bowl) on the big screen. Join their member’s circle club to earn free food and tickets just for scanning your card at each visit! Allegheny students receive a discount with ID! |
Riverside Inn Dinner Theater
The Riverside offers a full season of dinner theater beginning in April every year. Weekend events include murder mystery ‘whodunnits’, musicals, Christmas shows, children’s events, and the annual Medieval Feast. Weekday matinees are also regularly scheduled.
